Congressman Womack Responds to Supreme Court Ruling

Today, the Supreme Court determined that Congress – through its taxing power – can compel Americans to purchase health insurance. This ruling is a surprise to me, and while I respect the court's ruling, I believe it is critical that we overturn this overreach of government and eliminate this needless and burdensome tax that hard working Americans just can't afford pay – nor should they have to.

"Plain and simple, this is bad policy. The rise in healthcare costs will continue to stifle job creation across the country, and more hard working Americans will be added to an already crowded unemployment line."

 

 

Congressman Steve Womack was elected to represent Arkansas’s Third Congressional District in 2010 and sits on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee.

Prior to his election to Congress, Congressman Womack served as the Mayor of Rogers, Arkansas, for twelve years and in the Arkansas Army National Guard for over thirty years, retiring at the rank of Colonel.
